Robert Burns was born in 1759, to William and Agnes Brown Burnes. Like his father, Burns was a tenant farmer. Throughout his life he was also a practicing poet. Moreover Robert Burns Poetries recorded and celebrated aspects of farm life, regional experience, traditional culture, class culture and distinctions, and religious practice. People regard him as the National poet of Scotland.
“A Red, Red Rose” was first published in 1794 in a collection of traditional Scottish songs. Burns’s poem was inspired both by a simple Scots song he had heard and by published ballads from the period. In addition, the poem has the form of a ballad. It describes the speaker’s deep love for his or her beloved. Further it promises that this love will last longer than human life and even the planet itself, remaining fresh and constant forever. Also it deals with the relationship of man to the natural world, everlasting or enduring love, and the power of human emotions.

O my Luve is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve is like the melody
That’s sweetly played in tune.

So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my luve,
Though it were ten thousand mile.
