Robert Lee Frost was an American Poet. Frequently honored were the Robert Frost Poetries. Moreover is the only poet to receive four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry. In addition, he also received the Congressional Gold Medal in 1960 for his poetic works. Furthermore, on July 22, 1961 Frost was named Poet Laureate of Vermont. Here is one of the Robert Frost Poetries for you to read.

‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’ one of Frost’s best-loved poems, was written in 1922. His collection New Hampshire published it. He even called it “my best bid for remembrance”. A real event in the poet’s life inspired him to write this poem where he stopped by the woods on his way home, the poet despaired that he was poor and didn’t have enough money to provide for his family, but rather than giving up he decided to soldier on and ‘choose life’ rather than choosing the tempting escape offered by the woods. Everything else is silent, apart from the soft wind and the slight sound of snowfall.

Lastly Frost concludes by saying that he finds the woods very alluring, drawn both to their darkness and how vast and all-encompassing they seem. However, he has obligations to fulfill that he must honor, so he must leave this place of peace and tranquility and continue on his journey before he can sleep for the night.

Robert Frost Poetries

Stopping by Woods

Whose woods these are I think I know.

His house is in the village though;

He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

Robert Frost Poetries

My little horse must think it queer

To stop without a farmhouse near

Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year.

Robert Frost Poetries

He gives his harness bells a shake

To ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sound’s the sweep

Of easy wind and downy flake.

Robert Frost Poetries

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.
