बस ये ही बताना था तुम्हे

की किसी दिन राह में टकरा जाऊ,

तो नजरें मत मिलना मुझसे,

कभी जुबान पर आ जाए नाम मेरा

भुला देना हमारा इतिहास -ए -इश्क,

तो

कभी सूनी रातों में मेरा मुख्तसर सा खफा होना

याद आ जाए

तो मत लिख बैठना एक और खत मुझे,

और किसी दिन उस बागीचे में

तुम्हे मेरी महक आए,

तो मत ढूंढना किसी फूल में मेरा स्पर्श,

तुम्हारी अलमारी में महफूज़ रखी हुई वो कमीज मेरी

कभी लग जाए हाथ तुम्हारे,

तो कर देना इंकार

की तुम भी संभाले रखती हो

हमारे मोहोब्बात के निशान,

और हा!

यूं ही किसी दिन मेरी पुकार तुम्हें सुनाई दे,

तो मुड़ना मत पीछे,

एक उमर लगी है मुझको

खुद को तुम्हारे बिना संभालने में,

तुम्हारा यूं मुख्तसर सा आके चले जाना

मुझे इस बार जीने नही देगा।।
